Together with our expert speakers, we'll unpack neuroanatomical localisation and clinical reasoning, review emergency management of head trauma, spinal trauma, and seizures, and take a closer look at cognitive dysfunction syndrome in the ageing patient. On the infectious disease side, we'll dive into sinonasal aspergillosis and a broader update on fungal disease, explore borreliosis, toxoplasmosis, and the latest on leptospirosis, and close with a case-based approach that ties fever, uveitis, polyarthritis, and proteinuria back to the diagnostics we've covered. Dr. Thomas J A Cardy
BSc BVetMed(Hons) MVetMed PhD DipECVN MRCVS - EBVS & RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Neurology
Tom is a veterinary neurologist and neurosurgeon who trained at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), where he helped establish a brain and tissue bank and later lectured in neurology and neurosurgery before moving into private practice. His clinical interests include the long-term management of canine epilepsy and the use of 3D-printed guides and implants in complex spinal surgery, and he has published widely and spoken at national and international conferences.
Before veterinary medicine, Tom completed a PhD in neuropharmacology at Cambridge and worked in pharmaceutical commercial strategy before joining the European Medicines Agency as Business Pipeline Manager. That background, combined with a long-standing interest in wellbeing and performance in veterinary teams, has shaped his particular focus on Human Factors and its impact on patient and practitioner care.
Outside of work, Tom is a keen open-water swimmer and runner, and keeps busy as cook, cleaner, and taxi driver for his two young children.

Cameron is a European Diplomate in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Passionate about fungal disease, antimicrobial stewardship, endocrinopathy, and facilitating multiple studies to enhance the evidence base of veterinary medicine. Keen to build collaborative projects with colleagues across Europe and to promote clinical research in practice.
