A few minutes' walk from Old Town Square, the Maximilian Hotel is a calm, characterful retreat tucked into a quiet corner of the Old Town, facing the Baroque church of St. Haštal on the edge of the Jewish Quarter. Opened in 1995 and originally designed by the celebrated Czech-British architect Eva Jiřičná, the hotel was reimagined by Conran and Partners in a full restyling that gave its 71 rooms and public spaces a softer, more playful character - pastel tones, Bauhaus-era artwork and Czech-made furnishings that nod to Prague's modernist and avant-garde heritage. Downstairs there is a brasserie, a bar and library, a courtyard garden, and a spa offering traditional Asian massage. It is a quietly luxurious base in the very heart of the city, five minutes from almost everything you'll want to see.

How to Get to the Maximilian Hotel

The Maximilian Hotel sits in the historic heart of Prague, on Haštalská in the Old Town, and is easily reached by several means of transport. Here's how to reach us from the airport, the main stations, and around the city centre.

From Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG): Prague's airport lies about 17 km northwest of the centre, roughly a 25–30 minute drive in normal traffic. There is no direct rail link from the airport, so your options are:

Uber / taxi: Uber is the airport's official taxi partner, with a dedicated pick-up area outside both terminals; you can order through the app or at the airport kiosks. Expect roughly 600–900 CZK (about €25–35) and 25–35 minutes, longer during morning and late-afternoon rush hours. Bolt also operates in the city.

Private transfer: For added convenience, arrange a private transfer in advance; your driver meets you at arrivals and takes you straight to the hotel for a fixed rate.

Trolleybus 59 + Metro: The most economical route into town. Trolleybus 59 (which replaced the old bus 119) leaves from directly outside arrivals and reaches Nádraží Veleslavín metro station in about 15 minutes; from there take Metro Line A to Staroměstská, and it's a 10-minute walk to the hotel. A single 90-minute ticket - around 40 CZK (about €1.60) - covers the whole journey, including your luggage.

Airport Express (AE) bus: A direct coach to Praha hlavní nádraží, the main railway station, running every 30 minutes and taking about 35 minutes. Tickets are 100 CZK from the driver or a machine. From the station it's a short taxi ride or a 20-minute walk to the hotel.

From Praha hlavní nádraží (Main Railway Station): The arrival point for international and long-distance trains is only about 1.5 km from the hotel a 20-minute walk, a 5-10 minute taxi ride, or two stops by metro (Line C one stop to Florenc, then Line B one stop to Náměstí Republiky, followed by a 7-minute walk).

From Florenc Coach Station: If you arrive by intercity or regional coach, you're almost there - Florenc is about a 15-minute walk, or one stop on Metro Line B to Náměstí Republiky.

Around the Historic Centre: The hotel's greatest advantage is that almost everything is on foot. Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock are a 5-7 minute walk, the Jewish Quarter is around the corner, Charles Bridge is about 12 minutes, and Wenceslas Square roughly 15. Trams run from Dlouhá třída a few steps away, and both Náměstí Republiky (Line B) and Staroměstská (Line A) metro stations are within a 10-minute walk. You won't need transport for the seminar or for exploring.

By Car: Please note: Prague's Old Town is a restricted-access zone, largely closed to through traffic and tightly regulated for parking, so we would recommend arriving without a car if you can. If you do plan to drive, please contact the hotel in advance about parking options and access to the street for drop-off. Given how walkable the centre is - and how good the public transport is - most attendees won't need a car at all.
